What does a meat market in China have to do with Brazilian soybean farms? A whole lot, it turns out. Chinese diners are consuming more meat than ever, pork in particular. All those pigs have to eat, too, and overwhelmingly their main food source is soybeans.
Production

I was in charge of the production of this episode of “Because China” in Brazil and arranged interviews with farmers, indigenous leaders, conservationists, economists, and politicians to find out how a Chinese demand at this scale is changing a nation as large and diverse as Brazil.
The episode won a SABEW Award.
